Attention Rising 6th Grade Parents

Student must receive a TDAP Shot before entering 6th grade. Students must provide documentation proving they received the TDAP shot. Please bring documentation to the school office Attn: Shirley Eason by June 1,2018

Those 5th graders that have received and provided documentation already Thank You.
There will be 2 more reminder letters sent out between now and the end of the year. Please disregard this letter if you have already provided it.

 


Save the Date for Upcoming PTA General Meetings!  
  • March 20th at 7 PM
  • April 17th at 9:30 AM
  • May 15th at 7 PM (Election of 2018-2019 PTA Board)

Thank you for making our 7th annual Read-A- Thon, “Open a Book…and Start Your
Adventure!” such a rousing success!

Our students read 218,444 minutes and raised $14,634 that will be used to support Flint Hill! FHES readers surpassed our goal of reading 200,000 minutes.

The Read-A- Thon Committee and the Flint Hill PTA would like to recognize all the people who helped make this year’s event such a success.

Thank you to Ms. Rankin and her news team for helping us keep readers up to date on minutes read. Thank you to Ms. Hertzberg, Mrs. Hoak, the Flint Hill teachers, and office staff for their assistance and enthusiasm. The students will not forget those amazing dance moves or get the chicken song out of their heads!

And last but certainly not least, thank you to the Flint Hill parents, family members, and friends for their overwhelming support of our students and the Read-A- Thon. We appreciate the time and effort that you put into helping your students participate in this event.

Registration for the Falcon 5K and Fun Run is NOW OPEN!

Join us for this family event that celebrates fitness and builds on Flint Hill’s running program. The 5K Race starts and finishes at the school with a course through surrounding neighborhoods. Awards will be given for the top three finishers in each age category. The Fun Run is held on school grounds and all participants receive a race ribbon. *Register before April 9th to receive your race t-shirt. Click HERE to register!

In addition to taking part in this fun-filled event, we have many parent sponsors who own small businesses or medical/dental practices, or secure donations from their corporate employers. The Falcon 5K Race offers a dynamic marketing opportunity with exposure to over 500 community members in the Vienna/Oakton area. We thank our sponsors by listing their business names and logos on our T-shirts, website, fliers, and race day signs.  Funds raised go directly to programs that provide technology, curriculum supplies, and student enrichment programs at FHES.  Please contact us at flinthill5k@gmail.com if you are interested in becoming a sponsor.


Show What You Know:  April 20, 2018
Save the date for the annual Flint Hill Show What You Know Expo.  The Expo allows students to showcase their learning and knowledge in a subject area of their choice.  Students can work independently or team up with a friend.  This is open to all FHES students, all grades.  Details regarding free registration and times for the afternoon event are coming soon.


Spring Picture Day is coming!
– Tuesday, April 10th

Spring portraits will be taken on Tuesday, April 10th.  Look for your picture form to come home in Tuesday Folders when we return from spring break.  There will be a $20 voucher with each form that can be used for your spring portrait order.

Flint Hill is looking for some parent volunteers to help out with Picture Day.  We need at least 1-2 volunteers in the morning and possibly in the afternoon on Tuesday, April 10.  All volunteers will receive a coupon voucher.  If you are interested, please e-mail Gayle Schlueter at gschlueter5@gmail.com.
