Training for Health Room Volunteers

If you are interested in helping care for students in Flint Hill’s health clinic, there is a one-time required training for Health Room Volunteers conducted by the Fairfax County Health Department. This free training is being held on Wednesday, October 17 from 10 am-12 pm at the Heritage Building, 7811 Little River Turnpike, Suite 400E, Annandale. No pre-registration is required. If you have questions about volunteering or this training, please contact Sally O’Connor ( sboconnor@fcps.edu) , Flint Hill’s health clinic aide.

Grace Art Sign Ups for October & November
Our beloved Grace Art program returns in October!  Please see below for more information about our October & November Grace Art projects.  We love our volunteers – no art experience required!

Grace Art begins in October – all of our students will be creating artwork that will become part of Flint Hill’s float for the Vienna Halloween Parade.  Please refer to the following link for October’s class schedule as well as to sign up to volunteer HERE.

In the month of November, the featured artist will be Frida Kahlo and the students will be working on self portraits.  Please refer to the sign up below for the class schedule as well as to volunteer HERE.

PTA Meeting & Tech Talk by Flint Hill’s Ashley Stout

PTA meeting this Tuesday, 10/9 @ 7 pm in the cafeteria.

Please join us in the cafeteria this Tuesday evening for a brief PTA meeting followed by a Tech Talk by Flint Hill’s own Ashley Stout.  Ms. Stout will demonstrate how to optimize the Technology Resources that are available to the Flint Hill community.  Laptops will be available for a hands-on demonstration!

After School Programs start THIS WEEK!

The After School Programs start this week.  All participants should have received their confirmations via e-mail.  As classes begin, please remember the following:

  • All after school students should report directly to their after school classroom.
  • Please send a note to your classroom teacher on the first day of their after school class to let them know about your child’s participation in the after school programs.
  • We will no longer have snack time after school.

Any questions?  E-mail Gayle Schlueter at afterschool@fhespta.org

Reflections: “Heroes Around Me”
Reflections is back for another year and we love to see what students come up with! Reflections is a nationwide program for promoting the arts while encouraging students to use artistic ways to express themselves.

This year’s theme is: “Heroes Around Me.” Artwork can include a variety of different mediums such as dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, or visual arts.

Entries will be due Monday, October 22nd, so there is plenty of time to participate. Reflections is open to all grade levels and all abilities. Information can be found HERE or by contacting the chair, Jessica Moore at fhescomm@gmail.com with any questions.

PLEASE NOTE: Each entry submitted must have a flash drive with digital copy, including visual arts, photography, and literature entries (pdf), that should also include original/hard copy/print.

If parents have experience in any of the art areas listed above and would like to be a judge, please reach out to Jessica (or reply to this email!)!
