Pumpkin Bingo Cake Raffle!

We are excited to bring back the very popular cake/treat raffle at the FHES Pumpkin Bingo night!  Very similar to the old school cake walks of yesteryear, but now your cake will be on display the evening of Pumpkin Bingo, and students & families will be able to purchase a $1 chance to take home your creation! In order to make this a great success, we need cake/treat donations to Raffle the night of October 19th.  The theme for your treat is Fall/Autumn or anything Halloween! Get creative! We had some AMAZING submissions last year! Please register using the link below and drop your cake off to to the FHES Cafeteria between 3-5pm on October 19th. You will need to submit a title or name for your cake, along with your name and a complete list of ingredients when you drop off your cake.  You can contact Megan David meganbrwn@aol.com with any questions!

Training for Health Room Volunteers

If you are interested in helping care for students in Flint Hill’s health clinic, there is a one-time required training for Health Room Volunteers conducted by the Fairfax County Health Department. This free training is being held on Wednesday, October 17 from 10 am-12 pm at the Heritage Building, 7811 Little River Turnpike, Suite 400E, Annandale. No pre-registration is required. If you have questions about volunteering or this training, please contact Sally O’Connor ( sboconnor@fcps.edu) , Flint Hill’s health clinic aide.

Grace Art Sign Ups for October & November
Our beloved Grace Art program returns in October!  Please see below for more information about our October & November Grace Art projects.  We love our volunteers – no art experience required!

Grace Art begins in October – all of our students will be creating artwork that will become part of Flint Hill’s float for the Vienna Halloween Parade.  Please refer to the following link for October’s class schedule as well as to sign up to volunteer HERE.

In the month of November, the featured artist will be Frida Kahlo and the students will be working on self portraits.  Please refer to the sign up below for the class schedule as well as to volunteer HERE.

If you have any questions, please contact Angela Elmore at anghub@gmail.com.

Join Artsonia and See Your Child’s Artwork Online!

Our new art teacher, Mc. McAlister has introduced Artsonia, an exciting online digital art gallery that provides parents with access to their student’s artwork throughout the year.  In addition to viewing your child’s artwork, Artsonia offers families and friends opportunities to purchase quality keepsake items that earn money for Flint Hill!    For your child to participate in Artsonia, you first need to grant permission for the school to provide your email to Artsonia by using this online form.  After you have granted permission, you will receive an email from Artsonia to activate your child’s account.  Once the account is activated, parents can start viewing artwork as it is posted, and share it with family and friends!  For more information on Artsonia, please contact Ms. McAlister at sdmcalister@fcps.edu.

Turn in Box Tops by Friday!

Our first Box Top collection date is Friday, October 19th. Please help our school by submitting your Box Tops! Please place unexpired Box Tops in a bag or envelope and deposit in the collection box located in the lobby.  Please note your child’s name, teacher’s name and the number of Box Tops included.

2018 Spirit Wear Sale

We are excited to announce our 2018 Flint Hill Spirit Wear Sale.  This is a great opportunity to purchase the latest Flint Hill school gear.  Please click on the link to our website to view the spirit wear options and print out the order form.  The sale will run through Friday, October 19th.

Students will be bringing home a paper copy of the order form on Monday, October 15th, but we wanted to give you an opportunity to view the selections early.  If you wish to order, please fill out the order form and include either exact change cash or a check made payable to FHES.   Please place all order forms with payment in an envelope marked FHES Spirit Wear Sale.  SAMPLE shirt and sweatshirt sizes are available to view in the main office, all items are said to run true to size.  If you are unsure of sizing, please come and check out the samples.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to honor any exchanges.  Spirit Wear orders are due no later than Friday, October 19th.  Thank you in advance for your support!

Reflections: “Heroes Around Me”
This year’s theme is: “Heroes Around Me.” Artwork can include a variety of different mediums such as dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, or visual arts.

Entries will be due Monday, October 22nd, so there is plenty of time to participate. Reflections is open to all grade levels and all abilities. Information can be found HERE or by contacting the chair, Jessica Moore at fhescomm@gmail.com with any questions.

PLEASE NOTE: Each entry submitted must have a flash drive with digital copy, including visual arts, photography, and literature entries (pdf), that should also include original/hard copy/print.

If parents have experience in any of the art areas listed above and would like to be a judge, please reach out to Jessica (or reply to this email!)!
