The Bees Are Back!

FHES PTA invites all students to jump in and be a part of the Spelling Bee program!  Improve your vocabulary, build verbal confidence and take part in a Flint Hill tradition!

FHES Jr. Spelling Bee (Grades K-2): Friday, FEBRUARY 8, 2019
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., School LIBRARY

FHES Spelling Bee (Grades 3-6):  Friday, FEBRUARY 15, 2019
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., School LIBRARY

Students must register in order to participate. Registration is OPEN!  Forms can be found in the Front Office, or on www.fhespta.org (click HERE or on “Spelling Bee” under the “Quick Links” tab).
Submit your completed registration form  to the Front Office or by email to michellekim129@gmail.com
Completed registration forms must be received by Friday, January 25, 2019.   Late registrations cannot be accepted.

Word Study lists and a copy of the Rules will be provided with confirmation of a student’s Bee registration.

Partnership with Meadowlark Winter Walk of Lights Extended to January 13!

There is still time to go see the lights at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens this season!  Due to the rainy weather, Meadowlark Gardens has extended its Winter Walk of Lights until January 13.  Flint Hill PTA has partnered with them to help you save money while raising money for the school!

Use promotion code WINTER18 online at www.winterwalkoflights.com and you will get $2 off each ticket purchased and Flint Hill PTA will receive $1 for each ticket SOLD ONLINE through January 13.  Enter the WINTER18 promotion code at the screen where you select your ticket date and time.


Looking for something fun to do in January? 

Please join us for ice skating at Skatequest in Reston for a fun evening on 1/26/19 from 6-8 pm.  The cost is $10.00 per person which includes the ice skate rental.  Sign up begins on 1/7/19 at myschoolanywhere.com.  Sign up early to reserve your spot!  Please bring your whole family for a fun filled night benefiting Flint Hill ES.  Feel free to contact Gizelle Gorkowski (gmgorkowski@verizon.net) or Megan David (meganbrwn@aol.com) with any questions.

Grace Art UpdateAttention Parents and Grandparents interested in volunteering for the Grace Art projects in January, February, March, and April and have not been invited by sign up genius yet can contact Angela Elmore at anghub@gmail.com so we can get you signed up!  The specific Grace Art dates are on the PTA website!  Thanks for making this program successful!

Coping Strategies for Anxious Children,  National Institute of Mental Health

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) will present this important workshop for parents of anxious children ages 8-17. Highlights include how to help children with anxiety, when anxiety becomes a disorder, strategies for treating specific anxiety disorders and stress reduction tools. Participants will also hear about current NIMH studies on anxiety in children.
