Important Immunization Requirement: Do You Have a Student Entering Sixth Grade Next Year?

If yes, he or she may need a booster dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis). Sixth grade students cannot begin school in August without documentation of the Tdapbooster. Parents or guardians should ask their private healthcare provider, or the health department, to review their child’s immunization record if they are unsure if their child has received the Tdap booster. Students who have received a Tdap booster between the ages of seven and eleven do not need another dose.

Documentation must be provided to the school Student Information Assistant (SIA), Mrs. Shirley Eason.

Share This Information with a Friend or Neighbor!Kindergarten registration is upon us! We welcome parents of rising kindergarten students to register their child at their earliest convenience. This helps us get acquainted with our new students and allows us to have our numbers so we can best staff our kindergarten classrooms. Please don’t hesitate to share this information with a neighbor, friend, or colleague who lives within our boundaries. We want to ensure we get students registered as early as possible–in addition to registering for our Bridge to Kindergarten program this summer!

For more information on kindergarten registration, please contact our Student Information Assistant, Shirley Eason.

Falcon 5K and Fun Run Info:

PACKET PICK-UP (T-Shirts and Race Bibs):

Packet pick-up for the race will be Friday, May 3rd from school dismissal (approximately 3:45PM) until 7PM in the FHES school lobby.

Friday pick-up is STRONGLY encouraged to avoid long lines and delays on race day.  However, if necessary, racers can also pick-up their packets prior to the race on Saturday, May4th from 7AM-8AM on the school basketball court.

RACE DAY, Saturday May 4th 2019:

Please note the Falcon 5K will start sharply at 8AM, with warm-ups taking place prior to the start (approximately 7:45AM).  The event is held rain or shine and starts/ends on the school track.

Again this year we will have a WAVE START so we ask participants to line up according to their grade (sibling/parents can run with their children).  Elite runners should start in the first wave.  *Remember, timing starts when the runner crosses the timing mat so no need to rush!  Waves will be approximately 10 seconds apart.

The Fun Run will be held at 9AM, upon completion of the 5K.  It will also start and end on the school track.

Awards Ceremony to follow the Fun Run at approximately 9:30AM.

Order Now for Mothers  Day and Teacher Appreciation Gifts

Artsonia is an exciting online digital art gallery that provides parents with access to their student’s artwork throughout the year.  Artwork from home can also be uploaded and keepsakes can be purchased (with quick delivery!) with any of this art– coasters, phone cases, ceramic tiles, jewelry, cards and more.  Flint Hill earns 20% off each order!

Students in grades K-3 will have a Mothers Day art project completed the week after Spring Break.  May 5 is the deadline to order for Mothers Day.  Artsonia gifts, such as magnets, also make great personal gifts for Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10).   Go to www.artsonia.com to view and upload your child’s artwork today!

Please contact Ms. McAlister sdmcalister@fcps.edu if you are unable to login to Artsonia and she will help you to sign up and activate your account.  She could also use help uploading artwork to Artsonia, so please let her know if you can help!

Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10)

Our theme this year is Hollywood.  We will be rolling out the red carpet for our super star teachers and staff.

The PTA has planned the following school-wide events for the teachers & staff:

Tuesday (5/7) – Administration/Office Gifts to our Shining Stars

Wednesday (5/8) — SCA hosts Breakfast & cookie treat from PTA (made by Megan David) in mailboxes

Thursday (5/9) — PTA Luncheon (Italian Gourmet)

Hall of Fame Raffle Monday through Friday, with grand prize raffles for our Spotlight Winners announced Friday.

Room parents will be reaching out to their classes for grade wide activities they have planned.

The PTA needs YOUR help during Teacher Appreciation Week:

School Decorating with ChalkAll are invited on Sunday, May 5th to help decorate the sidewalks for our “FHES Walk of Fame” with chalk!  Bring your own chalk and let’s write loving messages to all our Flint Hill teachers.  Meet at school at 4pm. Students are welcome to write messages on parking spaces, and sidewalks.  PLEASE do NOT draw on the building.

Star Notes to Teachers

Students can start bringing in their stars to school starting Monday, April 29.  Students can draw and/or write a message to their teacher(s). Don’t forget our specialists! Baskets will be near each classroom door to drop off any stars for their classroom teacher or other teachers in the building.  Stars will be collected through Monday, May 6.  Extra stars are provided in each basket.

Gift Card Raffle

We are asking Flint Hill families to donate restaurant or store gift cards (anywhere from $5 to $25) for this raffle.  If you are interested in contributing to this raffle, please send your gift card to the main office in a sealed envelope marked “Teacher Raffle.” Please include the amount of the gift card inside the envelope (sometimes the gift cards do not list the amount, and the PTA wants to make sure they are distributed evenly).

Please send in gift cards by Wednesday, May 1st.

Questions, please reach out to Melissa Molivadas (mmolivadas@gmail.com)  or Natacha Moore (natacha.moore@outlook.com)
