Grace Art – FHES Halloween Float 2018

After an award winning inaugural year, we are looking to have a repeat performance in the 2018 Vienna Halloween Parade! FHES will be designing a float using the theme “Celebrating Great Cities of the World” to enter in this years parade.  As before, we will be utilizing the October Grace Art time for students to help design items in the classroom for the float.

Our amazing art teacher, Ms. McAlister, has helped come up with a design showcasing FHES’s Global Classroom initiative project with our sister classroom in Wales!  The float will house some memorable DC monuments on one side and a traditional Wales Castle (Caerphilly Castle!) on the other.  We will have a regal Bald Eagle guarding our monuments and a gorgeous dragon protecting the Wales castle.  We will also honor our Green Flag designation by making some eco-friendly items for the float – including reusing egg cartons and milk cartons from our cafeteria!

Students will be doing projects based on grade level:

Grades K, 1, 2 & 3 will be designing feathers and scales for the eagle and dragon.

Grades 4, 5 & 6 will help with painting the milk carton bricks and egg carton cherry blossoms.

Specific instructions will be included on the carts with the necessary supplies before each grade levels designated time.
