Fundraisers

Thank you to all the Flint Hill families that continue to support our PTA each year!

Every year, the Parent Teacher Association and Flint Hill Elementary School administrators, teachers and staff work together to identify programs and resources that will ensure FHES continues to provide our children with a quality education in a caring environment.  Fairfax County Schools are consistently underfunded, which means without the donations of time and funds from FHES families and the community, many of the resources we take for granted would be unobtainable.  

Last year, the PTA funded approximately $78,000 in programs and resources for our school.  This year, the PTA needs to raise approximately $61,000 to fully fund all of the programs currently budgeted.

Please help your children by participating in these programs, and get your family and friends involved!  Other than the PTA Membership, these fundraising activities are not limited to FHES immediate families.

 

PTA Membership – Please consider joining the PTA today! Not only do you get access to the directory and all of the other wonderful benefits the PTA offers, the PTA membership fee of $20 goes directly to your children’s education through the programs that the PTA supports.  You may join the PTA at Pay4Schoolstuff.com – a link can be found on the FHES PTA website (fhespta.org).  Please note that each family must join each academic year. All families who join prior to September 15 will receive our newly designed Flint Hill car magnet. 

Friends of Flint Hill – In lieu of asking the children to sell items door to door, the PTA created the Friends of Flint Hill program so that 100% of the funds will go to the PTA to support the budget outlined above.  You may contribute to FOFH via Pay4SchoolStuff.com at the time you sign up for the PTA or anytime through the end of November.  We will recognize all FOFH donors on our website (or you can remain anonymous).  As a guideline, last year the PTA spent approximately $100 per student.  Help us reach our goal of $20,000 so we can continue to offer these important programs.  Your donation is 100% tax-deductible and you will receive a tax receipt for your gift. Don’t forget to check with your employer – many will match your gift!

Annual Falcon 5K & Fun Run – Details coming soon…

Rebate Program –FHES participates in the following school rebate programs.  Please re-register your cards each academic year to ensure FHES receives credit for your purchases.  Ask your family and friends to register their cards for additional money for our school.

    • Amazon:  Click the Amazon School Special Link on the FHES PTA website and save it as a favorite for all your future Amazon purchases.  Every time you purchase through this link, FHES receives a rebate in the amount of 4-10% of the value of your purchases.  
    • Box Tops for Education.  Please clip the small pink Box Tops on hundreds of your favorite items, including General Mills cereals, Nature Valley granola, Annie’s Organic products, Ziploc, Kleenex, Cottonelle, Motts applesauce, Lysol and Hefty (go to BTFE.com for a full product list).  Please place unexpired Box Tops in a bag or envelope and deposit in the collection box located in the lobby.  Please note your child’s name, teacher’s name and the number of Box Tops included.  Box Top collection dates will be October 13, February 9 and June 1. More information will be shared via Tuesday folders and PTA updates.

Dining for Dollars -FHES partners with various restaurants and other local establishments throughout the year.  The concept is easy – you eat dinner or purchase services from the provider and FHES receives a percentage of the sales, usually 20% or more!  DFD isn’t limited to only FHES immediate families.  Tell your friends and families  –  the more people that attend these events, the more FHES makes.  It’s a win-win…you don’t have to plan dinner and FHES earns money!

Original Works – This program was re-introduced last year and is back by popular demand! Original Works puts your children’s artwork on quality keepsake items.  Our art teacher, Ms. Colliatie, will instruct the children in an art project that will make you proud.  You will receive examples of your child’s artwork in late October/early November.  Order forms should be returned to the school no later than November 10.  Finished products will be distributed at school prior to the winter break.

Penny Wars – Do you put your change in a bowl and never look at it again?  Let your children take it off your hands because the battle is on!  In the spring each grade-level will face off to see who can contribute the most pennies (or nickels, dimes or quarters!).  The grade-level that contributes the most will receive a special treat so start saving those pennies now!

Read-A-Thon
